An Israeli tourist was arrested in central Bangkok late Tuesday night after local authorities received a tip from the owner of a guesthouse where he had been staying, police confirmed.

According to Thai police, the suspect, identified as a 20-something traveler from Israel, was taken into custody following a search of his room, where officers allegedly discovered illegal substances and a weapon.

The guesthouse owner reportedly contacted authorities after noticing what he described as “suspicious behavior” over several days. “He was acting strangely and had visitors at odd hours,” the owner told local media.

Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after and conducted a search, which led to a confrontation. Authorities say the suspect resisted arrest, and the situation escalated into a brief violent struggle before officers were able to detain him.

No serious injuries were reported, though officials noted that “necessary force” was used to subdue the suspect.

Authorities have not yet released full details regarding the type or quantity of substances involved, nor specifics about the weapon allegedly found in the room.
